Don't worry about the extra glue unless you have big, dried chunks; which you can rip off with your fingers anyway. Old glue just helps new glue stick so in cases where you miss a spot, the old glue will actually help.

Just get rid of the obscenely large pieces and then glue a new tire on. Done.

Hey Brian,
Welcome to the trackie world. :) Last summer I spent countless hours scrapping off glue from my Zipps only to find out that they don't have to be that clean - the re-glued tube needs something to stick to, right? So I stopped being neurotic about it, left some glue on the rim and called it a day. I haven't rolled that tire off the rim yet! Yes, it's a pain in the butt to scrape but it worked.

Good luck and metal nail files work great - so do screw drivers!

Jen
