I just don’t understand.

I am not gay… but I have friends and loved ones that are.

I’m not religious… but I have friends and loved ones that are

I do not argue with either.  I believe that people are born with a sexual orientation and I also believe that people have faith in certain things that make them feel whole and comfort them.

What I don’t understand is the homophobic religious nut-jobs like the gentleman at Westwood Starbucks this morning, wearing a sign that read “God Hates Fags”.

Have you no soul?  Ever looked up “hypocrisy” in Websters?  Don’t have a dictionary, I see…

Let’s hear it straight from your bible.

  • Interesting timing. The next movie in my Netflix Queue is “For the Bible Told Me So” which examines how scripture has been exploited to deny rights to GLBTQs. I also found this interesting tid bit, in reference to the film:

“As everyone knows who’s heard the hate-mongering before, the Bible says homosexuality is “an abomination.” But, as many theologians explain in Dan Karslake’s eye-opening film, when the relevant Scripture was written, “abomination” meant something that was not according to custom or tradition. It did not mean the same thing that it means today.Yet it is the phrase you’ll hear repeated over and over by those who simply cannot rest unless every gay and lesbian person in the world represses his or her nature and spends the rest of his or her life in self-hatred and misery.”
